Solo, w/ You

Mexico, Wisconsin, Illinois - I have inhabited these places, calling them home by what they have offered, or rather, what I have taken. I have traversed lands and called them “home”, neglecting the privilege built on native people’s oppression. I do not know everything, but I do learn from my mistakes. Today, I recognize how we arrive on the ancestral land of the Dakota and Anishinaabe. MNI SOTA MAKOCE, renamed Minnesota through the oppressive nature of colonialism and its lasting effects on the nations we have so long neglected because we benefit from the riches it provides. I take a moment to reflect how I arrive through past negligent actions, feeding a broken system. I commit to honor and remember those who have provided a fertile ground for us to inhabit.

The works presented are remembered, experienced, and dreamt by me. Within this journey, I recognize those here who have taken a chance on me to develop artistically. A “Thank you!” to each of you, and at the forefront, to my family and friends here or elsewhere. Your unconditional support is unmeasurable as much as my appreciation for you - I hope to honor you. The next forty-five minutes I will be on stage solo. You being here is an enormous gift, to experience together. Enjoy Solo, w/ You.
